Artist's Comments

First off let me state a few facts.
1. I don't own snow white.
2. On a trip to Disney World i took a photo of a painting that looked almost identical to the one I painted.
3. I'm not sure on deviant arts rules involving creating a painting based off a painting already in existence.(if this is not allowed I will remove this painting)
4. I painted this picture using that photograph as a reference, using acrylic paint on a canvas.

OK now for the story behind this painting. My girlfriend(Faerienymph), best friend and I went to Disney World and Universal studios back in October 2005. While there my Faerienymph saw this poster of a portrait of snow white she loved. I wanted to get it for her. The canvas print of this painting was something like $130 or so, quite a lot, and the poster paper print was $30.

My plan was before we went to that nights fireworks I was going to lie that I had to go to the bathroom and run across the park and buy the $30 poster version for her for Christmas. Turns out when I got there it takes about an hour to print a poster and there was only a half an hour till the fireworks show, and not only that they wouldn't be able to get it to my hotel until 2 days later, the day I was flying out so I sadly left with no picture.

But just my luck earlier that day I had taken a photo of my Faerienymph standing next to the painting. The panting was at an angle so I had to deform it in Paint Shop Pro to get it straightened out. After that I printed it and using grid lines made a sketch of it on my canvas...in charcoal. Apparently that was a bad idea because while painting the charcoal mixed with the paint and muddied it up causing me to have to make a few extra coats of paint in some spots.

Anyway after the painting was finished I packed it up for Faerienymph for a Christmas present. It now hangs in her bedroom.

lastly I'm not sure if I am allowed under Deviant Art rules to post such a picture here but I am proud of it and so if its ok would like it to be in my gallery.

YAY you uploaded this!

Well, as you know, this painting is hanging up on my wall right now (still sans frame, hehe), and it is the BEST thing I have ever put up on my wall. I LOVE this painting, and I LOVE you (and I LOVE Disney World, too, HAHA). I still cannot thank you enough for painting this for me. Really, babe, you have a LOT of talent, and I really wish you would paint more often.

Thanks! I would make more art if I had more ideas but sadly when i sit down to make art I rarely have an idea of what to make. I love you to babe!

Well if you ever need an idea, you can always come to me for suggestions (even though I suck at coming up with good ideas). We should do that painting together that we've always talked about doing...

This is lovely. It's so classic looking.

You don't see what you possess; a beauty calm and clear.
It FLOODS the sky and blurs the darkness like a chandelier.
All the light that you possess is skewed by lakes and seas.

Its shattered surface, so imperfect, is all that you believe.
